Sakamoto Agency is an award-winning booking, talent buying, and event programming agency in Canada. Sakamoto Agency has seen tremendous growth in the past few years with the launch of subsidiaries and partnerships including Sakamoto Music (label), GPS Promotion (radio & digital promotions), and Sakamoto/GPS Artist Management. We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our team as an agent.
The successful applicant will be an important contributor to the continued growth of our experienced team. Our work model has been a “virtual office” from the company’s inception, so you can do something you are passionate about from a location you love. Administrative support to agents such as issuing contracts, collecting deposits, and managing announce/on sale and marketing approvals is provided in house.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Applicants must have a minimum of three years previous agent experience, have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and exceptional attention to detail. An education in music or commerce will also be an asset. The successful applicant will also have access to an established roster of artists and the opportunity to grow the roster and add artists as a responsible agent. The successful applicant and their artists will also have access to and will work with or alongside any of the agency’s divisions including Sakamoto Music (Warner-distributed label), Sakamoto Artist Management, and GPS Promotion (radio & digital promotions), as well as our associated partnerships in the USA and Europe.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an agent at Sakamoto Agency, you would provide negotiation and booking services to our established roster of artist and add artists to the roster as a responsible agent, from any genre of music you have experience with. Agents are expected to actively seek bookings, and both create and maintain relationships with a Canada-wide talent buying and promoting community, as well as adding international opportunities, showcasing opportunities, conventions, conferences, and any relevant artist development endeavors where possible.
Regular communication with both the Sakamoto team and artists/management/labels is also expected, formulating strategic plans, keeping up on career developments, and adjusting to changes in the industry.
QUALIFICATIONS AT A GLANCE
- 3 years previous experience as a booking agent
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Canadian music industry
- Existing relationships in any non-country and country genres
- Motivated/self-starter who will seek out opportunities
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise a busy workload
- Experience with Gigwell, Google Calendars, Microsoft Office Suite an asset
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be based on experience and will include a base salary guarantee plus commissions. Sakamoto Agency will cover approved expenses for work related travel, as well as phone and office expenses. Sakamoto Agency also offers a full benefits package available after the initial probation period that includes extended health, dental and insurance coverage.
